Surfing South Africa (SSA)
SSA is the recognized body for surfing in South Africa. SSA run and are responsible for all aspects of surfing in South Africa. Anything and everything to do with organized surfing, longboarding, bodyboarding, kneeboarding and the Association of Surf Riding Officials (ASRO) is channeled through SSA.
SSA is a member of the South African Confederation of Sport and Olympic Committee, which along with Sport and Recreation South Africa, controls all sport in South Africa.
SSA Surf Coach Accreditation
To qualify as a SSA Accredited Surf Coach, our instructors have:
  • Excelled in one or more of the SSA Surf Coaching courses
  • Completed a current Beach Life Saving Qualification acceptable to SSA
  • Proven competent personal surfing ability
  • Good knowledge of the sport and theory of surfing
  • Demonstrated the ability to introduce first time surfers to the ocean
  • Excellent people and coaching skills
